Erin's Law The Adams County Children’s Advocacy Center (ACCAC) is hosting ERIN MERRYN on Thursday, May 11 at the Gettysburg Area Middle School. Erin Merryn is a childhood sexual abuse survivor who is now an author, speaker, child advocate, speaker, wife, mother, activist, and the founder and president of Erin’s Law.“Erin’s Law” requires all public schools in each state implement a prevention-oriented child sexual abuse program which teaches:

1.     Students in grades pre-K through 12th grade age-appropriate techniques to recognize child sexual abuse and tell a trusted adult;

2.     School personnel all about child sexual abuse; and

3.     Parents and guardians the warning signs of child sexual abuse, plus needed assistance, referral or resource information to support sexually abused children and their families.

To date, 28 states including Pennsylvania have passed Erin’s Law.

On May 11, Erin will conduct a 1-hour presentation followed by a book signing. The event is open to the public and there is no cost to attend this event. Donations to support the ACCAC will be accepted following Erin’s presentation.

The ACCAC is looking for your support of this very special event. It is through the courageous efforts of individuals like Erin Merryn who share their story and their message that child abuse victims can heal and move forward in their lives and children will all have the opportunity to participate in child abuse prevention initiatives because child abuse prevention is the key to ending child abuse.

We encourage all school district staff to join us in this event which will provide support of the ACCAC’s mission to end child abuse.
