GASD announces Lunch with Law Enforcement initiative
As school safety remains a top priority, and our district’s relationship with local law enforcement is important in that endeavor, the Gettysburg Area School District (GASD) in partnership with the Gettysburg Area Education Foundation (GAEF) invite all law enforcement officers that serve our community to free breakfast, lunch, or coffee on all school campuses throughout the 2018-2019 school year.
We are fortunate to have a school resource officer (SRO) in our school district through a partnership with Cumberland Township, and hope that this program and invitation will encourage the presence of more officers on our campuses. This will allow participating officers the opportunity to familiarize themselves with our buildings, staff and students, and will bolster the relationship between the district and each of our various law enforcement departments. This program is also a small way of saying “thank you,” to those who serve our community on a daily basis.
Local and regional police, sheriffs and PA State Police officers that serve the Gettysburg district community are invited during breakfast and lunch periods in each building. Officers who stop by at other times throughout the day can grab a cup of coffee in the school cafeterias.
The school district appreciates the support of the GAEF, as a partner, to fund this program through private donations. This new fund has already been seeded through several donations as we prepare to kick-off this program in the Fall of 2018.
If you wish to support this effort with a donation, you can send a check made payable to GAEF, PO Box 3981, Gettysburg, PA, 17325 (please note “LLE” on the memo line). You can also donate online clicking here.
