Gettysburg Area School District confirms next superintendent

School Board President, Mr. Todd Orner, confirmed Friday, February 17th, 2017 that the Board has extended a verbal offer to Dr. Jason C. Perrin to serve as the next Superintendent of the Gettysburg Area School District. 


Dr. Perrin, currently serving as the Assistant Superintendent of the State College Area School District in State College, PA, has verbally accepted the position.  Official action on the hiring of Dr. Perrin is set for the March 6th Board Meeting.


Dr. Perrin brings over 17 years of administrative experience to Gettysburg, serving the State College School District in leadership roles including Middle School Principal, Supervisor of Elementary and Middle Level Education and Assistant Superintendent. He began his career in public education as a Middle School Science teacher and taught six years in Greenwich, Connecticut and Gibsonia, Pa.  Dr. Perrin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from The Pennsylvania State University, his Masters of Science degree in Educational Administration from The University of Pittsburgh and his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from The Pennsylvania State University.  The focus of his doctoral research was school finance and organizational leadership.  He is a member of several state and national school-related leadership organizations, including the ASCD, PASCD, AASA and PASBO.


During the interview and selection process, Dr. Perrin impressed the Board, staff and community groups with his visionary and responsive leadership skills. He stressed his commitment to enhancing the educational experiences available to the students in the Gettysburg Area School District and welcomed the opportunity to further develop the District as he works with students, parents, staff and community stakeholders to address the challenges of the ever-changing educational landscape.  He cited numerous personal examples in his teaching and administrative roles that helped shape his vision and passion for public education and prepared him for the position of Superintendent of the Gettysburg Area School District.


Dr. Perrin is set to replace Dr. Larry Redding, who will retire from public education service on June 30, 2017.
