Summer Reminders
As summer continues, we want to keep our families informed and connected with important district updates and opportunities. Below you will find helpful reminders regarding transportation, free summer meals, building hours, and upcoming back-to-school information, along with ways to stay engaged and share in the learning and experiences happening throughout the summer months.
GASD Free Summer Meals Program
The Gettysburg Area School District is pleased to offer its Free Summer Meals Program beginning Wednesday, June 17th and continuing through Thursday, August 6th. The program runs Monday through Thursday during this time and is closed on Fridays.
Nutritious breakfast and lunch meals are available at no cost to all children and teens ages 18 and under throughout the summer. Adult meals may also be purchased for $4.85.

Lunch Service:
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
For added convenience, families may pick up a grab-and-go breakfast bag during lunch service for the following day.
The Summer Meals Program helps ensure that children in our community continue to have access to healthy, nutritious meals while school is out of session. We look forward to serving our students and families this summer.

Tuesday Treats this July
Tuesday Treats are coming to our FREE Summer Meals Program this July!
Join us each Tuesday in July at GAMS for a themed event! The free summer meals program is Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through August 6th.
July 7: Free Ice Cream Day
July 14: Parents & Guardians Eat FREE Day
July 21: Pajama Day
July 28: Local Fruit Day

Free meals are available for all children 18 and under and GASD-enrolled students with disabilities up to 21, regardless of eligibility status or district of residence.
Summer Served Together on July 14 & 16
Join us for Summer Served Together during our FREE Summer Meals Program at Gettysburg Area Middle School next week! Our district leaders are stepping into a new role on the serving line.

Summer EBT and SUN Bucks
Summer EBT/SUN Bucks provides eligible families with a one-time grocery benefit of $120 per eligible child to help purchase food during the summer months when school is not in session. Many families will receive benefits automatically for 2026 Summer EBT/SUN Bucks if they are enrolled at a school that participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP), and they qualify for free or reduced-price school meals.

Summer is a time for learning, exploring, and making memories! We invite our students, families, and alumni to share how they're living the Warrior Way this summer, whether it's travel, camps, hobbies, or family time. We love hearing what our Warriors are up to and may even share the exciting news on our district website, social media pages, and other official communication outlets to celebrate!

Get the Scoop with GASD Superintendents!
Join GASD Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Matzner and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Matthew McFarland for a fun evening at Mr. G’s Ice Cream on Wednesday, August 12 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Our superintendents will step behind the counter as celebrity scoopers, serving up smiles, sweet treats, and plenty of Warrior pride. Families, students, staff, alumni, and community members are invited to stop by, enjoy some ice cream, and connect with fellow Warriors.
As an added bonus, attendees will be among the first to try a brand-new Warrior flavor debuting that evening!

A Night at the Ballpark for GAMS Mini-THON
Get ready for an unforgettable evening at the ballpark while supporting the Gettysburg Area Middle School Mini-THON!
Join us on Saturday, August 15 at 6 p.m. at FNB Field in Harrisburg as the Harrisburg Senators take on the Richmond Flying Squirrels in an exciting minor league baseball matchup.
Bring your family, friends, and fellow Warriors for an evening filled with baseball, community spirit, and fun all while supporting the incredible efforts of GAMS Mini-THON and its mission to make a difference. Don't miss this grand slam of an event, Warriors!
