About the Staff

Mrs. Saltzer, Librarian

Mrs. Saltzer received her bachelor's degree from Kutztown University in education with a concentration in general science. She was an academic librarian at Central Pennsylvania College before beginning her library career at Gettysburg Area School District in 2007. In 2009, she earned her Master's Degree from Clarion University in Library Science. Mrs. Saltzer was awarded the Clarion Graduate Student of the Year from the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association. In 2011, she completed her Certificate of Advanced Studies in Library Science focusing on library issues related to children and young adults. Mrs. Saltzer is the Gettysburg Area School District Instructional Media Specialist. She also is the co-chair of the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association's Operations Committee. Mrs. Saltzer has been a member of the Cavendish Square Advisory board, the Salem Press Advisory board, and the PA State Library Guidelines for the Education of School Library Media Specialists Committee. She has also been inducted into Beta Phi Mu (International Library & Information Studies Honor Society).



Mrs. Buxton, Library Secretary

Mrs. Buxton started working for the GASD school district in the fall of 2012, serving in the high school library as a part-time secretary. She holds a BS in Education from the University of Texas at Austin. Mrs. Buxton also works at Gettysburg College as an adjunct accompanist in the Sunderman Conservatory and enjoys working with local school districts as a choral pianist and musical pit musician. She and her husband, Bruce, live in Gettysburg and are the parents of five children.
