Julie Jorgensen opened the meeting with a greeting and then rolled into old business.
Old Business:
Spirit Wear Fundraising Update: Julie said that the maroon styles sold better than the gray, so we would continue the sale with only the Maroon options. She also said that if there was a request for the gray to contact the PTO at pto4gams@gmail.com.
Linsie Jonas gave a report of our finances. Because of sponsorship from Aura Integrative Medicine, we will have more funds to put toward Teacher Appreciation Events.
Linsie explained that it would cost the PTO up to 54.00 for the 9 t-shirts or masks that were donated in the form of vouchers for the Student of the Term winners from our fundraising earnings.
Valentine’s Day Donuts: We discussed how many boxes (8) and how many coffees (5) that we would supply for the Teachers and Staff. Linsie said we have the funds in the budget, but Smitha offered to have her business Aura Integrative Medicine sponsor the Valentine’s Day Donuts and Coffee for the second year in a row!
Dubbs Karate Fundraiser: Julie gave a report that the owner was creating the fundraising flyers and the PTO would launch this fundraiser as soon as the paperwork was completed. This venture is a win/win and could help us do great things for the school if successful.
New Business:
Spirit Wear Fundraiser: Sale continues without the gray flame option.
Julie will ask the printer if once there has been a run with the screens if there needs to be a minimum number of sales to run more. It was decided that the next closing date for the sale would be March 21st for an Easter delivery.

St Patrick’s Day: Treat for teachers and staff will be Girl Scout Cookie Goodie Bags. We discussed doing this for the St Patrick’s Day holiday. Julie will create a document that explains how many boxes we would need and send out an email to the PTO as a whole asking for donations. Karin Palmer offered to help do the bags. Linsie Jonas and Heather Miller suggested bananas might be a good addition to the SPD goodie bags for those unable to eat cookies and Samantha North suggested asking the apple farms for donations of apples.
PTO had a question from Smitha Nair (in her role as a member of the YWCA Board) about where to find the Middle School’s curriculum as it pertains to education about equality with an emphasis on eradicating racism. Mr. Stachelek was supportive and asked that she email him and Mrs. Herb to further the discussion.
Julie also mentioned that the PTO has a Facebook site and an Instagram site thanks to Stacey Rice and Wendy Brubaker. Please go and like the PTO pages and let us know what you would like to see posted on them.
