VOLUNTEER INFORMATION and INSTRUCTIONS
The two mandatory clearances for ALL volunteers are the Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance and the Act 34 Pennsylvania State Police Clearance. There is no charge for these clearances when you choose Volunteer. If you have continuously resided in Pennsylvania for ten years AND complete the Volunteer Verification Form swearing that you have never been convicted of a disqualifying crime, the FBI Federal Criminal History Clearance is not needed. If you have NOT been a resident of Pennsylvania for the last ten years, you must apply for an FBI clearance.

Act 151 Child Abuse History Clearance (website) – must be completed and returned
Act 34 Pennsylvania State Policy Clearance (website) – must be completed and returned
FBI Federal Criminal History Clearance Instructions (website) OR a Volunteer Verification for Exemption from FBI Federal Criminal History Clearance – one must be completed and returned.
In addition, you will need to show proof of a current Tuberculosis (TB) Test administered within one year of volunteering. If you have not obtained a TB test within the year, one can be administered at the James Gettys Elementary School, on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays only, by Mrs. Weikert, the school nurse at 717-334-6254 opt. 5 ext. 1227. Please know if you have a positive TB test result, the Nurse is mandated to contact the Pennsylvania Department of Health with those results. Submission of the above paperwork should be forwarded to the Receptionist at the Administration Building. You will not be able to volunteer until all of the required paperwork is completed.
