  • Gettysburg Area High School - Sign up for Meals

This is a follow-up message to Dr. Perrin’s communication informing you of the necessity to close the Gettysburg Area High School (school building). On Monday, I sent an update that spoke to the ongoing daily challenges of maintaining an environment within Gettysburg Area High School that allows our students to engage with staff members in a safe and healthy way. Unfortunately, this recent influx of positive Covid-19 cases has pushed our school building into a position that requires us to close our doors in a physical sense.

Education MUST continue, and it will. Opportunities to learn will remain the norm. We have planned to keep these opportunities flowing in a way that maintains as much consistency as possible. The plan for students is as follows (also attached - PDF)...

Students - Please communicate questions or concerns with your teachers via Canvas Inbox or Gmail (if using Gmail, check for responses daily).

As I said on Monday, “Remote learning requires discipline and drive but also a willingness to ask for help. As students practice self-regulation and time management, they must also practice self-advocacy and communication when help is needed.” Our school community is tasked with preparing students for an incredibly challenging future. To do that, we MUST respond collaboratively to the challenges of the moment. Each day, we must work together to get a little bit better. We will. Go Warriors!

  • Backpack Program Partners with Community Aid: Sustainability

The Gettysburg Area School District has agreed to partner with CommunityAid, a non-profit organization with a mission to help those most vulnerable in our local communities.

    Ruth's Harvest

All proceeds earned from the bins on our campuses will be earmarked for the  Ruth's Harvest and Franklin Friends weekend meals programs in the District.  The District will receive a monthly donation, based on the number of clothing items collected in the bins.  Additionally, our needy students will be eligible to receive clothing care cards to shop at their Hanover or Mechanicsburg stores.

Please consider making a clothing donation!  (If you have more donations than what will fit in the bin - we can make special arrangements with the CommunityAid organization so the District receives the financial credit.)
