Dr. Shelly Lappi
My name is Shelly Lappi and I am currently in my 21st year in education. During those years, I taught 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade, and I also worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for IU13. Prior to becoming the Principal at Franklin Township, I was an Assistant Principal for 10 years, including 4 years at Gettysburg Area Middle School. This is my 3rd year serving as the principal at Franklin Township! I also taught higher-education classes part-time at Cabrini College and Wilson College. I completed my undergraduate studies at East Stroudsburg University; I then continued my graduate work at Penn State University where I earned my Principal Certificate and M.Ed. In June 2012 I graduated from Drexel University with my Doctorate degree.
A little bit about me personally . . . I am originally from Western PA which makes me a HUGE Steelers fan! I reside in Enola, which is about 40 miles north of Gettysburg. I was born in Johnstown, PA and lived in the rural, very small town of Jerome, for most of my childhood. I am a middle child. I have an older sister and a younger brother. Although I don’t have any children of my own, I am a super proud aunt and you will see that the second you step into my office! My niece, Nicole will turn 29 in June and her little brother, TJ was born on 11-11-11 and he is 7 years old and in First Grade. They absolutely complete me and I spend as much time with them as possible! ☺ Other things I enjoy are playing team sports, walking, reading, traveling, fishing, football season, teaching & learning, shopping, laughing. My faith is very important and a big part of who I am; I love attending bible study and spending time with my family and friends.
I love to travel! Some favorite places visited are the Grand Tetons, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon in Arizona, the Rockies of Colorado, the San Diego beaches, Southport, North Carolina, and the Jersey Shores. I love spending time in Brigantine, NJ where I own a condo. I also love to eat. Some of my favorite foods are first and foremost, chocolate, followed closely by ice cream, crab legs, Indian, Thai, and of course, I love a good steak!
Through a close partnership with staff, students, and families at Franklin Township Elementary, I am confident we will continue to make this school the best it can be – a place for our students to learn, grow, make mistakes, and develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Working together, we will continue to provide the very best educational experience for our students!
I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve the families, staff, and community at Franklin Township Elementary School. Please feel free to contact me by phone @ 717-334-6254 opt. 6 ext. 3262 or via email slappi@gasd-pa.org or better yet, stop in! I would love to see you! I value relationships and would love for the opportunity to meet you personally!
Be the Reason Someone Smiles Today... You Matter.
