Sight Vocabulary

High-frequency (sight) words are essential academically to help your child develop their reading skills successfully.  In order for children to fluently read, it is necessary for your child to know these words by sight and not by having to “sound them out”.  Over 85% of any text we read (newspapers, magazines, signs, books, etc..) are sight words.  When we read fluently through a text, the easier it is to comprehend.  Please work on the high-frequency words with your child during each theme.  Revisit past themes to make sure your child knows these words automatically.
